Amplifying the voices of Black feminist leaders in LatAm
By
LORI ROBINSON
EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
Today we celebrate International Women’s Day with the launch of a special series Undeniable Power that will amplify the voices of Black feminist leaders in Latin America. Our grantee partner Revista Afirmativa, a media collective based in Salvador da Bahia, Brazil, is producing this content exclusively for VidaAfrolatina.
Through articles, photos and social media posts, Black women in Latin America will learn about each other’s movements and members of our global community will deepen their understanding of Afro-Latin American women’s lives. In particular, Revista Afirmativa will cover the ways organizations address sexual violence.
This series is designed to connect us all with the brilliance and power of women who heal and transform.
Benilda Brito is a coordinator at N’zinga Colectivo de Mulheres Negras, a VidaAfrolatina grantee partner in Belo Horizonte, Brazil. She recently stated, “The affection between us is what will save us.” With Black women invisibilized throughout Latin America, VidaAfrolatina is offering this opportunity to get to know each other better so our affection is primed for maximum growth.

There’s no better day than March 8 to join us as we plant seeds of transnational solidarity.
